I don't really like the fact that there seems to be 3 different syles sewn throughout the pic. They boil down to 1: the hair and the arm. 2: the facial features. 3: the clothes. All of them look inherently different to me, and it's sort of making it hard to view.

I'm with Sidra, I don't think you should've gone for such contrasting styles in such a simple picture. The lips/eyes and such look much different than the hair, and the body/clothes. Doesn't fit, IMO. Also, her arm (the one that her head's leaning on) seems to be a fair bit too small, either that or her head too large when compared to it. (I think what it is, is that her arm, again the one that her head is leaning on, seems to be in a very uncomfortable position. Try laying down like that with your head leaning against your forearm in such a manner. For that to happen her shoulder would be quite far back, and her neck would be at a sharp uncomfortable angle to pull that off.)

Nice texture on the lip.

I didn't mind the "3 different styles", since to me, that is not the big deal.

The head hand arm proportion seem to be fine. However, the upper area of the arm is out of the proportion. It is the part that was not shown in the picture.

Other wise, nicely done. Although the picture is a bit too bright for me to look at for long (from a monitor screen).

Hey everyone, thanks for the great feedback. Yeah, I suppose trying out the different styles may be a bit radical (x.x) but as for the porportions, I had a friend model for me and I'm pretty sure that I have all the measurements right. Or maybe she's deformed--but I doubt that's the case (XD).

I dont find anything wrong with the proportions, except that they look visually a bit unnerving because you've captured her head, her right forarm, and part of her chest and I think maybe even her whole left shoulder. There really isn't that much to tell you what's going on... *oops. I just noticed- the left hand is in there too*. The shading makes it look very tiny IMHO, even if they are proportional and the body is just turned so that you're viewing it from an almost completely left sided perspective, making it hard to fathom where the other body parts are in conjunction with the arm, which looks noticabely smaller than it should be because of the lack of coloration and knowledge of how the model is exactly positioned... and if any of the above made sense to you, then kudos, because I just wrote down what I noticed as I was looking at the picture in no specific order and commenting on it :-D

Be careful when deciding to do maximum contrast in just black & white. The transition from no shading on the face to deep gradations around the eyes can result in a strange depth effect (sharp eye socket). If some of the dark grays were tinged with color, then it might read more as "make-up".

Granted, it is a very wonderful piece, and if the commisioner likes it, then that is all that matters :-D

Very true, it all depends on the Comissioner if he/she likes the art.

I find it very interseting to look at (I keep tabbing back and forth as I type this post)

I love the hair detail; the ear rings, and "worry beads" bracelete.

I find it hard to believe you used only Pen and Ink for the lips and eyes.
